LeagueApps schedules can live right inside Google Calendar — games and practices next to everything else, updating on their own. The wrinkle is that most families don't realize they're on LeagueApps at all: the platform runs the backend for rec leagues and club programs under the league's own branding, so the button you're hunting for lives on your league's site, not an app called LeagueApps.
This guide walks the exact path — the Subscribe to Calendar menu, the direct-Google shortcut versus the reusable Copy Link, and the honest fine print about how quickly Google actually picks up schedule changes afterward.
Log in to your league's LeagueApps site. LeagueApps runs the backend for a lot of city rec leagues and club programs, so the branding and design will look like your specific league's site, not "LeagueApps."
Open your schedule (My Schedule or Team Schedule). The exact label varies slightly by league, but you're looking for the page listing your child's specific games and practices.
Click Subscribe to Calendar, then choose Copy Link. LeagueApps also offers a direct Google Calendar button here, which is the shortcut: click it and approve, and the subscription is done. But Copy Link is what hands you the raw iCal URL that works everywhere — reusable in a spouse's calendar, Outlook, or Schedule Caddie — so if you want control over the link, copy it.
Open Google Calendar in a browser — the phone app can't do this part. On a computer, go to calendar.google.com. On a phone, the Google Calendar app has no way to add a calendar from a URL — open calendar.google.com in your phone's browser instead (and use your browser's Request Desktop Site option if the mobile page hides the settings).
Add calendar → From URL → paste → Add. In the left sidebar, click the + next to "Other calendars" and choose From URL. Paste the LeagueApps link and click Add calendar. If Google rejects a webcal:// link, change webcal:// to https:// and try again.
Check it on your phone. Events show up on the web within a minute. In the Google Calendar phone app, open Settings, find the new calendar under your account, and make sure Sync is turned on so it appears on your phone too.
Subscribing puts the schedule in Google Calendar, but Google refreshes subscribed feeds on its own cycle — typically every 12 to 24 hours — and it never notifies you when an event changes. A practice that moved this morning can still show the old time at pickup. Schedule Caddie checks the same LeagueApps feed every day and emails you exactly what changed, so the calendar on your phone is the backup, not the only line of defense.
Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — and it's genuinely fine for one team. The squeeze comes at two kids on three teams: every team is another link, another subscription, another calendar color to manage by hand — and none of them warn you when two games land at the same hour.
I only see Apple Calendar and Google Calendar buttons, no raw link
Click Subscribe to Calendar first — Copy Link is one of the options inside that menu, not a separate button on the schedule page itself. (And if all you want is this one feed in Google, the Google Calendar button there does the job directly.)
My league's site doesn't look like LeagueApps at all
Many leagues heavily customize the LeagueApps template with their own logo and colors. The underlying schedule and Subscribe to Calendar flow is still the same — look for it on the same schedule page.
There's no "From URL" option in my Google Calendar app
There isn't one — the phone app genuinely can't add subscribed calendars. This step has to happen at calendar.google.com in a browser. Once it's added there, the calendar syncs to the app on its own.
A practice moved in LeagueApps but Google Calendar still shows the old time
That's Google being slow, not the link being broken. Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own cycle — typically somewhere between 12 and 24 hours — and there's no button to force it. If knowing about changes quickly matters, that's exactly the gap Schedule Caddie covers: it checks the same feed daily and emails you what changed.
Google decides on its own — typically every 12 to 24 hours, sometimes faster, and there's no setting to change it or way to force a refresh. Changes also arrive silently: the event just moves, with no notification that it moved.
No. Subscribed calendars update quietly in the background. If you want an actual heads-up when a time changes, Schedule Caddie watches the same LeagueApps feed daily and emails you exactly what changed — new time, old time, which team.
Mostly, yes. The LeagueApps side works in your phone's browser — log in to your league's site, open your schedule, and tap Subscribe to Calendar. The direct Google Calendar button there is the easiest phone path. If you use Copy Link instead, the paste has to happen at calendar.google.com in the browser too, because the Google Calendar app can't add URLs.
A From-URL subscription only lives in the Google account that added it. Simplest options: have them subscribe with the same Copy Link URL in their own Google Calendar, or put the schedule in Schedule Caddie and send them a share link that works in any browser with no setup.
At calendar.google.com, hover over the calendar in the left sidebar, click the X (or open its settings and choose Unsubscribe). You can re-add it with the same link anytime.
Each app means another link and another separate calendar in Google. That's the point where one merged family calendar beats five subscriptions — Schedule Caddie takes the same links (LeagueApps, TeamSnap, GameChanger, school PDFs) and merges them into one color-coded calendar with conflict detection.
Every kid, every schedule, every app — merged, color-coded, and watched for changes.
