How to Sync RAMP to Google Calendar

If your kid plays minor hockey, ringette, lacrosse, or soccer in Canada, there's a good chance the season runs on RAMP — the app with the roster, the chat, and the schedule. What most parents never find: every RAMP team also publishes a live calendar feed, and it drops into Google Calendar once you have the address.

Here's where the link hides in the Team App, what it should look like when you've got the right one, the Google-side steps (which only work on the desktop site), and the honest fine print about how quickly Google actually notices a change.

⏱ Takes about 4 minutes

RAMP → Google, step by step

  1. 1

Open your team in the RAMP Team App. RAMP runs a huge share of Canadian minor sports — hockey, ringette, lacrosse, soccer, softball — and the RAMP Team App is where rosters, chat, and the schedule live for parents. Open the app and make sure you're in the right team, because each team hands out its own calendar link.

  2. 2

Tap the gear icon (top right) and look for Calendar Subscriptions. Club instruction pages describe it the same way: from the gear icon in the top-right corner, open the settings menu and find Calendar Subscriptions. That's RAMP's name for the live feed feature — it supports iCal and Google Calendar style subscriptions, which means one link that keeps updating as the schedule changes. (App layouts shift between versions; if the gear moved, look for a settings or calendar-subscription entry in the app's menu.)

  3. 3

Copy the calendar link instead of auto-adding it. The subscription screen will offer to hand the schedule to your phone's calendar. Copying the actual link is more flexible — that one address can go into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, or a family calendar app. Press and hold to copy if it's shown as text.

  4. 4

Know what the link looks like. A real RAMP feed URL comes from rampinteractive.com and looks like https://api3.rampinteractive.com/teamapp/Calendar/GetCalendar/America-Toronto/1234567/0 — note your timezone baked into the path. If what you copied matches that shape (or starts with webcal://), you have the right thing: a live feed, not a one-time export.

  5. 5

Open Google Calendar in a browser — the phone app can't do this part. On a computer, go to calendar.google.com. On a phone, the Google Calendar app has no way to add a calendar from a URL — open calendar.google.com in your phone's browser instead, and use Request Desktop Site if the mobile page hides the settings.

  6. 6

Add calendar → From URL → paste → Add. In the left sidebar, click the + next to "Other calendars" and choose From URL. Paste the RAMP link and click Add calendar. If Google rejects a webcal:// link, change webcal:// to https:// and try again.

  7. 7

Check it on your phone. Events show up on the web within a minute. In the Google Calendar phone app, open Settings, find the new calendar under your account, and make sure Sync is turned on so it appears on your phone too.

The fine print: how Google handles subscribed feeds

Subscribing puts the schedule in Google Calendar, but Google refreshes subscribed feeds on its own cycle — roughly every 12 to 24 hours — and it never notifies you when an event changes. A practice the convenor moved this morning can still show the old time at dinner. Nothing speeds Google's cycle up, including us. What Schedule Caddie does instead is read the same RAMP feed every hour and email you exactly what changed — and merge the other kids, the other apps, and the school calendar onto the same page while it's there.

One team subscribed — or the whole family merged?

Subscribe directly

Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — and it's genuinely fine for one team. The squeeze comes at two kids on three teams: every team is another link, another subscription, another calendar color to manage by hand — and none of them warn you when a tournament game lands on top of a sibling's practice.

Paste into Schedule Caddie

  • RAMP plus every other kid's team app, merged into one calendar
  • Color-coded by kid or schedule so you can tell at a glance
  • Email alerts the moment a game or practice changes
  • A weekly digest so nothing slips through
  • School PDF calendars imported alongside — the one schedule with no feed

If something's not working

Google rejected the link with a format error

Some RAMP feeds are formatted in a way that stricter calendar apps refuse — a quirk in how the feed describes its timezone. First try swapping webcal:// for https:// at the front of the address. If Google still won't take it, that's the quirk, and it isn't something you can fix from the RAMP side. Schedule Caddie reads RAMP feeds natively, including that quirk, so you can paste the same link there and the events and times come through correctly.

I don't see a gear icon or Calendar Subscriptions

Make sure you're in the RAMP Team App itself (the one with team chat and RSVPs), signed in, with a team selected — not your club's public website. If your club runs an older RAMP setup, the website's team schedule page may also offer a subscribe option; either source works.

There's no "From URL" option in my Google Calendar app

There isn't one — the phone app genuinely can't add subscribed calendars. This step has to happen at calendar.google.com in a browser. Once it's added there, the calendar syncs to the app on its own.

The schedule changed but Google still shows the old time

Google refreshes subscribed calendars on its own cycle — roughly every 12 to 24 hours, silently, with no way to force it. The RAMP feed itself updates promptly; it's Google's cached copy that lags. Schedule Caddie checks the same feed hourly and emails you what changed.

We have two kids on different RAMP teams — do I need two links?

Yes — one feed per team. Copy each team's link from its own Calendar Subscriptions screen and add both to Google separately. Pasted into Schedule Caddie instead, they merge into one color-coded calendar that flags conflicts between the kids' schedules automatically.

Frequently asked questions

How often does Google Calendar update a subscribed RAMP feed?

Google decides on its own — typically every 12 to 24 hours, with no setting to speed it up and no way to force a refresh. Changes also arrive silently: the event just moves, with no notification that it moved.

Will Google Calendar notify me when the convenor moves a practice?

No. The RAMP feed is live — when the association updates the schedule in RAMP, the feed updates with it — but subscribed calendars in Google update quietly in the background. If you want an actual heads-up, Schedule Caddie watches the same RAMP feed hourly and emails you exactly what changed: old time, new time, which team.

Does the RAMP Team App really have a calendar feed?

Yes — RAMP supports calendar subscriptions (iCal and Google Calendar style) for every team, found under the gear icon's Calendar Subscriptions menu. Plenty of parents use the app for chat and RSVPs for a whole season without discovering it.

My club has its own website — is that RAMP too?

Very likely, if you're in Canada: RAMP white-labels club and association websites (the address often contains rampinteractive.com, or the site footer says RAMP InterActive). The Team App is the parent-facing side of the same system, and it's where the per-team calendar link is easiest to find. A link from a club-site schedule page behaves the same way.

Can I do the whole thing from my phone?

Yes, but the Google half needs a browser. Copy the link from Calendar Subscriptions in the Team App, then add it at calendar.google.com in your phone's browser, because the Google Calendar app can't add URLs. It's clumsy but it works.
