BAND isn't a sports app at all — it's a general group-messaging app that a lot of youth teams, class parents, and entire leagues repurpose for schedules because it's already on everyone's phone. Its calendar can absolutely land in your iPhone's Calendar app; the trick is that BAND has two calendar features that sound almost identical and do opposite things. You want Export, not Subscribe.
This guide covers the export path in BAND, both ways to subscribe on an iPhone (the one-tap webcal way and the Settings way), the Mac version, and two pieces of honest fine print: the anniversary events that ride along in the export, and how slowly iOS picks up schedule changes.
Open your group in BAND. Go to the specific group or team whose schedule you want — BAND groups can be a team, a whole club, or even a classroom, so make sure you're in the right one.
Open the Calendar tab. Every BAND group has a Calendar tab alongside its chat and photos.
Tap Manage Events. This sits inside the calendar view, usually as a menu option or button near the top.
Tap Export Band Calendars — not Subscribe via URL. This is the one you want — it's available to every member, not just admins, and it hands you a URL you can subscribe to elsewhere. Subscribe via URL does the opposite: it pulls an outside calendar into BAND.
Copy the URL. If the group has several calendars listed, pick the specific one your child is on rather than the group's default calendar.
Tap the link as webcal on your iPhone. If the copied link starts with webcal://, just open it in Safari — iOS recognizes it and asks if you want to subscribe. If it starts with https:// instead, swap that prefix for webcal:// and open it, or use the Settings path below.
Or add it through Settings. Go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, paste the exported BAND link, and tap Next → Save. (On older iOS versions, Calendar appears directly in the main Settings list.)
Check it appears in the Calendar app. Open the Calendar app, tap Calendars at the bottom, and you should see the feed under Subscribed — make sure its checkbox is on. Tap the info icon to give it a color that stands out from your personal events.
Optional: add it on your Mac too. In the Mac Calendar app, choose File → New Calendar Subscription, paste the same link, and set Auto-refresh to every hour. Subscriptions added through iCloud sync across your Apple devices automatically.
Two things worth knowing before you rely on this. First, BAND puts its own anniversary events into the group calendar — entries like “The Band was created 1 year(s) ago on this day” — and the export carries them through, so a DIY iPhone subscription shows them alongside the actual games. Subscribed calendars are read-only on iOS, so you cannot delete them one by one. Schedule Caddie filters them out automatically on import.
Second, iOS refreshes subscribed calendars on its own lazy cycle — often several hours behind, sometimes a full day — and never notifies you when an event changes. A practice someone moved in BAND this morning can still show the old time at pickup, and the group chat is doing the alerting instead. Schedule Caddie checks the same exported feed every day and emails you exactly what changed.
Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — since BAND is general-purpose, groups mix event types freely — practice reminders, team dinners, fundraiser deadlines, plus BAND's own anniversary entries. Direct subscription brings all of it onto your phone exactly as posted, so it's honest but noticeably noisier than a dedicated sports app, and a read-only subscription gives you no way to filter any of it out.
I only see "Subscribe via URL," not an export option
Subscribe via URL does the opposite of what you want — it imports an outside calendar INTO BAND. The option you need is Calendar tab → Manage Events → Export Band Calendars → Copy the URL.

Nothing is broken — BAND adds anniversary events to the group calendar automatically, and the export carries them along with the real games and practices. A subscribed calendar on iPhone is read-only, so you can't delete individual events out of it; your options are to live with them or drop the subscription. (Schedule Caddie strips these automatically when it imports a BAND feed, so they never reach your calendar.)
Nothing happens when I tap the link
That usually means the link starts with https:// rather than webcal:// — Safari treats it as a file download instead of a calendar. Replace https:// with webcal:// and open it again, or skip the tap entirely and paste the link via Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar.
Someone changed a practice in BAND but my iPhone still shows the old time
That's iOS being lazy, not the export being broken. iPhones refresh subscribed calendars on their own schedule — often several hours, sometimes up to a day — and there's no reliable way to force it per-calendar, nor any notification when something changes. Schedule Caddie checks the same exported BAND feed daily and emails you what changed.
I subscribed twice and now every event shows up doubled
Go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts, find the duplicate subscribed calendar, and delete one. Duplicates usually happen when you tap the webcal link and later also add it via Settings.
