A practice moved in TeamSnap this morning and your phone still shows the old time at pickup. Nine times out of ten nothing is broken — subscribed calendars just refresh on a lag measured in hours-to-a-day, silently. The tenth time, you're subscribed to last season. Here's how to tell which one you have, fastest check first.
The #1 cause: your calendar app is just slow, and that's normal
Google Calendar refreshes subscribed feeds roughly every 12–24 hours; iPhones do the same on their own schedule, sometimes taking a full day. Neither offers a button to force a single subscribed calendar to refresh, and neither tells you when something changed — the event just quietly moves whenever the refresh happens. If the change appeared in the TeamSnap app but not your calendar, wait a day before assuming anything is broken. (The blunt fix if you can't wait: remove the subscription and re-add the same link — that forces a fresh pull.)
The subscription points at last season
TeamSnap teams are season-scoped. If your club rolled the roster into a new season, your old subscription may still be pulling the previous season's (now frozen) schedule. Log in at teamsnap.com in a browser, open the current team's Schedule tab, click Settings → Sync Calendar / Export, and compare that link to the one your calendar is subscribed to. If they differ, unsubscribe the old one and add the new.
Every game shows twice
You're subscribed twice — usually once from tapping a webcal link and once from adding it manually in Settings. On iPhone: Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts, find the duplicate subscribed calendar, delete one. In Google Calendar on the web: hover the duplicate in the left sidebar and remove it.
The calendar is genuinely empty (not slow — empty)
Check the date you're looking at: if the coach hasn't published the season yet, the feed is legitimately empty and will fill in when they do. If the season IS published in the TeamSnap app but your subscribed calendar stays empty for more than a day, re-copy the link from teamsnap.com (browser, not the app — the link only lives on the website) and re-subscribe.
No — there's no per-calendar refresh button on either. Removing and re-adding the subscription is the only way to force an immediate pull. Google's refresh cycle is roughly 12–24 hours; iOS is similar.
Not from a subscribed calendar — updates are silent by design. The event moves; nothing tells you it moved. If you want an actual alert (old time, new time, which team), Schedule Caddie watches the same TeamSnap feed daily and emails you exactly what changed. It's free.
On teamsnap.com in a browser (the phone app doesn't show it): click into your team → Schedule tab → Settings → Sync Calendar / Export. Our TeamSnap calendar link guide has the full walkthrough.
No — a subscribed calendar is a read-only view of the feed. Remove it, re-add the same (or newer) link, and everything current comes back within a minute.
That's the point where one merged calendar beats five subscriptions: Schedule Caddie takes the same links (TeamSnap, GameChanger, SportsEngine, the school PDF), merges them into one color-coded family calendar, re-checks every feed daily, and emails you when anything moves.
Every kid, every schedule, every app — merged, color-coded, and watched for changes.
