GroupSpot is a group app first and a sports app second — the same product runs booster clubs, scout troops, and school organizations, and teams are one flavor of group inside it. That's why the calendar sits behind a group menu rather than on a team page, and why the sync option isn't where a sports app would put it.
It is there, though. The path is Group Calendar → the ••• icon at the top right → Sync to Calendar, and then a fork: Sync to Device Calendar or Sync to External Calendar. Nothing in the app is labelled export, subscribe, or iCal, which is why searching for those words comes up empty.
One honest caveat before you start: GroupSpot's help center documents the external sync option but never shows what it hands you, so we can't promise a copyable feed address. The steps below cover both outcomes — copy the link if you get one, bridge through a Google or iCloud calendar if you don't.
Open your group menu and choose Group Calendar. Sync lives on the calendar screen, not on the feed you normally scroll. If you want everything you belong to at once instead of a single group, tap the calendar icon in the lower navigation of your home screen to open your All Groups calendar.
Tap the ••• icon at the top right. That opens the calendar screen menu. It is easy to walk past, because nothing on the calendar itself is labelled sync.
Choose Sync to Calendar. This is the exact menu label GroupSpot uses. If you were hunting for export, subscribe, or iCal, that's why you couldn't find it.
Pick Sync to Device Calendar or Sync to External Calendar. Sync to Device Calendar drops the events onto the calendar app already on your phone. Sync to External Calendar is the one you want if you're headed for Google, Yahoo, or anything else that lives outside the phone.
If GroupSpot hands you a calendar address, copy it. GroupSpot's help center documents the external option but doesn't publish what the address looks like, so what appears here depends on your device and app version. If you see a URL, or a share option that reveals one, that's your feed — copy it.
If there is no address to copy, bridge it instead. Let GroupSpot sync into a Google or iCloud calendar, then take that calendar's own subscribable link. In Google Calendar on the web: Settings → click the calendar's name under "Settings for my calendars" → Integrate calendar → copy the Secret address in iCal format. On iPhone with iCloud: Calendar app → Calendars → tap the ⓘ next to the calendar → turn on Public Calendar → Share Link. Treat the Google secret address as private — anyone holding it can read that calendar.
Paste whichever link you ended up with into Schedule Caddie. From there it sits alongside every other app your kids' teams use, on one calendar you actually check.
Sync to External Calendar is GroupSpot's own route to Google. If you come out of it holding a calendar address rather than a finished connection, adding it by hand takes a few seconds:
On Google Calendar (desktop or web). Go to Settings → Add calendar → From URL, paste the calendar link you copied above, then click Add calendar.
On iPhone (Apple Calendar). Go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, and paste the same link. (On older iOS versions, Calendar appears directly in Settings.)
That gets every game and event GroupSpot publishes onto your calendar. What it won't do is tell you when one moves. Google and Apple only re-check subscribed feeds every so often — sometimes a full day passes before a rescheduled game shows up — and neither sends a notification when it does. GroupSpot will push you a notification in its own app, but only if notifications are on and you open it. Schedule Caddie watches the feed every day and emails you the moment something changes, so you find out from us instead of finding out at the field.
Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — assuming you got a link at all — GroupSpot documents the external sync but not the address behind it, so some parents end up bridging through a Google or iCloud calendar to get one. And GroupSpot's own All Groups calendar, handy as it is, only merges other GroupSpot groups, so the kid whose team runs on TeamSnap is still in a second app.
I can't find Sync to Calendar anywhere
You're probably on the feed. Open your group menu, choose Group Calendar, and the ••• icon appears at the top right of that calendar screen. Sync to Calendar is inside that menu.
I only see some of the team's games
That's subgroups working as designed. If you're assigned to one team subgroup, you won't see another subgroup's events and games — GroupSpot uses this so a Varsity parent isn't buried in JV and Freshman dates. If your kid's games are missing entirely, ask an admin which subgroup you're assigned to.
A game is on the calendar but never showed up in my feed
Also by design. Game posts default to Display On → Calendar Only, because schedules usually get entered months ahead. Events and games always live on the calendar even when they aren't on the feed, so sync from the calendar and you have the whole schedule.
My other groups vanished from the All Groups calendar
A filter is still on from last time — GroupSpot keeps them until you clear them. Look for the "Filtered by X Groups" bar at the top, tap View to adjust the list, or tap Clear to reset back to all groups.
Add to Phone only added the one game I was looking at
That's what it's for. Add to Phone copies a single event or game onto your phone as a one-off, and it never updates again if the time changes. For a schedule that keeps itself current you need Group Calendar → ••• → Sync to Calendar instead.
GroupSpot offers a Sync to External Calendar option under Group Calendar → ••• → Sync to Calendar, which is how you get events into Google, Yahoo, or another outside calendar. If it instead pushes events into a Google or iCloud calendar, take the subscribable link from that calendar — that's the bridge in the steps above.
Add to Phone sits next to the date on a single event or game post and saves that one item to your phone — a snapshot, not a subscription. Sync to Calendar, from the Group Calendar screen, carries the whole schedule and keeps it connected. If you've been tapping Add to Phone on every game as it gets posted, this is the upgrade.
Yes, and it mostly happens automatically. GroupSpot scopes your calendar to the subgroups you belong to, so a parent assigned to one team subgroup syncs that team's schedule rather than the full program. If you want the program-wide view, you need to be on the parent group's calendar rather than a subgroup.
Not inside GroupSpot. Its All Groups calendar is genuinely useful, but it only merges groups that are themselves on GroupSpot — it can't take in a TeamSnap, GameChanger, or SportsEngine link. Schedule Caddie is built for the mixed case: bring the GroupSpot link plus your other kids' feeds and everything lands on one color-coded calendar.
Open your group menu → Group Calendar → the ••• icon at the top right → Sync to Calendar → Sync to External Calendar, which is the path GroupSpot documents for Google. If you end up with a calendar address instead of a direct handoff, add it manually: in Google Calendar go to Settings → Add calendar → From URL and paste it in.
GroupSpot itself will push a notification when a coach posts or reposts — that part it does well, as long as notifications are still switched on and you open the app. What breaks is everything downstream. Once those games are sitting in Google or Apple Calendar, those apps refresh subscribed feeds only every 12 to 24 hours and never say what moved. Schedule Caddie checks the feed every day and emails you exactly what changed, so a moved game doesn't depend on you catching a push notification mid-workday.
