How to Sync Your sportsYou Calendar to Google or Apple

sportsYou is the free, school-safe communication app a lot of American high school programs standardized on — coaches post to the team without handing out personal phone numbers, and the schedule rides along in a Calendar tab next to messages, photos, and documents. Because the calendar is one tab among many, the subscribe option is easy to walk past.

It's there, and it takes about two minutes. The one thing to know going in: sportsYou doesn't export a single team. It hands you one link built from whichever of your calendars you toggle on, which is friendlier than most team apps if you have two kids in the same athletic department.

You'll see the name written a few ways — sportsYou, SportsYou, sports You — but the company styles it with a lowercase s, and the steps are identical no matter how you searched for it.

Get your sportsYou calendar link

  1. 1

Open sportsYou and go to Calendar. On sportsyou.com, Calendar sits in the left column near the top. In the phone app, tap Calendar in the bottom tray. Either one works — the link you end up with is the same.

  2. 2

Tap the icon in the top right. On the web it's a small calendar icon; in the app it's the subscribe icon. This is the step people miss, because nothing on the screen says "export."

  3. 3

Toggle on the calendars you want included. sportsYou then shows every calendar you have access to with an on/off switch beside it. This is unusual and worth knowing: you're not exporting one team, you're choosing which teams go into a single link.

  4. 4

Tap the green Copy URL button. The phone app labels the same green button Copy Link, and offers a blue Step-by-Step link next to it with instructions for individual calendar apps. You just need the URL itself.

  5. 5

Paste it into Schedule Caddie. Once it's in, these games and practices refresh on their own alongside every other team in your family.

How to sync sportsYou to Google Calendar

Yes — once you've copied the URL above, it behaves like any other subscribable calendar feed:

  1. 1

On Google Calendar (desktop or web). Go to Settings → Add calendar → From URL, paste the sportsYou link you copied above, then click Add calendar.

  2. 2

On iPhone (Apple Calendar). Go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, and paste the same link. (On older iOS versions, Calendar appears directly in Settings.)

That link will show you every event sportsYou publishes. What it won't do is tell you when one moves. Google and Apple only check subscribed feeds every so often — sometimes a full day passes before a schedule change shows up — and neither sends a notification when it does. Schedule Caddie watches the same sportsYou feed every day and emails you the moment something changes, so you find out from us instead of finding out at the field.

What you can do with that link

Subscribe directly

Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — and sportsYou is better than most here, since the toggles let you bundle several sportsYou teams into one URL. The wall is the app boundary: the moment one kid's club moves to TeamSnap or GameChanger, those toggles can't reach it, and you're back to two calendars.

Paste into Schedule Caddie

  • sportsYou plus every other kid's team app, merged into one calendar
  • Color-coded by kid or team so you can tell at a glance
  • Email alerts the moment a game or practice changes
  • A weekly digest so nothing slips through

If something's not working

I don't see an icon in the top right

Make sure you're on the main Calendar view and not inside a single event. If you've just joined and haven't been added to a team yet, there's no calendar to subscribe to yet either.

Only some of my teams show up in the calendar

Go back to the subscribe screen and check the on/off toggles — anything switched off is left out of the link. Toggle the missing team on and copy the URL again.

Google Calendar won't take my sportsYou link

sportsYou's own help article suggests removing a couple of characters from the end of the link before pasting it into Google Calendar, which is a strong hint the URL is fussy about exact formatting. Copy it fresh rather than retyping it, and paste it into Schedule Caddie exactly as copied — we handle the feed directly.

Frequently asked questions

Does sportsYou charge for calendar sync?

No. sportsYou is free for coaches, players, and families, and the subscribe/export option is part of the free product — there's no upgrade prompt standing between you and the link.

Can one sportsYou link cover more than one team?

Yes, and that's genuinely useful: the toggles on the subscribe screen let you fold several sportsYou teams into a single URL. The limit is that it only knows about sportsYou — a sibling on a TeamSnap or GameChanger team is invisible to it.

Can I combine my sportsYou calendar with my other kid's teams?

Not inside sportsYou. Schedule Caddie exists for exactly that: paste the sportsYou link alongside links from TeamSnap, GameChanger, or anything else, and every kid lands on one color-coded calendar.

Do I use the app or the website?

Either. Unlike TeamSnap, sportsYou puts calendar subscription in both places — the web version calls the button Copy URL and the app calls it Copy Link, but you get the same feed.

How do I sync sportsYou to Google Calendar?

Copy the URL from the Calendar tab (steps above), then in Google Calendar go to Settings → Add calendar → From URL and paste it in. On an iPhone, go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar and paste the same link (on older iOS versions, Calendar appears directly in Settings).

Will I know if a sportsYou game time changes after I subscribe?

Not on your own. sportsYou pushes the change into the feed, but Google and Apple only re-read subscribed feeds every so often — sometimes 12 to 24 hours — and neither one tells you when something moved. Schedule Caddie re-reads the same sportsYou feed every day and emails you what changed.
