Spond is free for teams, which is why so many grassroots clubs run on it — no per-team fee, no scheduling behind a paywall. It started in Europe and travelled with the coaches who used it there, so plenty of American parents meet it because one coach brought it along, not because the league picked it.
Here's the thing nobody tells you up front: Spond has no calendar link to copy. It doesn't publish an iCal or webcal address for your group, and it has no open API for pushing events out to other sites. If you've been clicking through every menu looking for an export button, you can stop — it doesn't exist.
What Spond does instead is sync events into the calendar app already on your phone. That's genuinely useful, and it's also the way out: let Spond fill a Google or iCloud calendar, then take the subscribable link from that calendar. Below is both halves — the official sync path, and the bridge.
Know what Spond actually gives you — there is no link to copy. Stop hunting for one. Spond doesn't publish an iCal or webcal URL for a group, and it has no public API for exporting events. Instead it writes events directly into your phone's calendar. So the trick is to let Spond fill a calendar, then take the link from that calendar.
Open Spond and tap your profile picture. Everything calendar-related lives under your own profile, not inside a specific group. Tap your profile picture, then Calendar settings.
Grant Spond access to your calendars. On iPhone: Calendar settings → Grant access here → Calendars → choose full access, then confirm. Apple requires full access rather than read-only, because Spond needs to edit and remove entries when an event is cancelled. On Android: Calendar settings → Provide access, then tap Yes when asked.
Choose which calendar Spond writes into. On Android, go back into Calendar settings and tap Standard calendar to pick the destination. Choose a Google account calendar rather than a phone-only one — that choice is what makes the next step possible. There's also Group calendar settings if you only want certain teams flowing through.
Take the subscribable link from that calendar. In Google Calendar on the web: Settings → click your calendar's name under "Settings for my calendars" → Integrate calendar → copy the Secret address in iCal format. On an iPhone using iCloud: Calendar app → Calendars → tap the ⓘ next to the calendar → turn on Public Calendar → Share Link and copy the webcal URL.
Paste that link into Schedule Caddie. That URL is now a live feed of everything Spond posts, and it sits next to your other kids' teams on one calendar. Treat the Google secret address as private — anyone holding it can read that calendar.
On Android, Spond syncs into Google Calendar natively — that's steps two through four above. Once you've bridged it and copied a link out, that link behaves like any other subscribable calendar feed:
On Google Calendar (desktop or web). Go to Settings → Add calendar → From URL, paste the calendar link you copied above, then click Add calendar.
On iPhone (Apple Calendar). Go to Settings → Apps → Calendar → Calendar Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Subscribed Calendar, and paste the same link. (On older iOS versions, Calendar appears directly in Settings.)
That gets every Spond event onto your calendar. What it won't do is tell you when one moves. Google and Apple only check subscribed feeds every so often — sometimes a full day passes before a rescheduled practice shows up — and neither sends a notification when it does. Spond will ping you in its own app, but only if you still have its notifications on and you actually open it. Schedule Caddie watches the bridged feed every day and emails you the moment something changes, so you find out from us instead of finding out at the field.
Paste the link into Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, or Outlook and it works — with an extra hop nobody else makes you take — Spond gives you no link at all, so you're borrowing one from the Google or iCloud calendar it writes into. That also means the feed carries whatever else lives on that calendar, so it's worth pointing Spond at a calendar of its own.
I've looked everywhere in Spond for an export or iCal button
It isn't there. Spond's own help center only documents syncing events into your phone's calendar — there's no group feed URL to copy and no open API for pulling events out. The workaround above is the honest route.
Spond events stopped appearing on my phone
Usually a permissions change. On iPhone, Spond needs full calendar access, not read-only — check Calendar settings → Grant access here. On Android, re-check Calendar settings → Standard calendar is still pointing at a real calendar and not set to none.
Only some of my groups show up
That's Group calendar settings doing its job. Under your profile picture → Calendar settings → Standard calendar → Group calendar settings, each group can be routed to a different calendar or switched off entirely.
Season Planner let me import a .ics — can't I go the other way?
No. The Season Planner's import (web only) brings an outside .ics file into Spond. It's one-directional, and there's no matching export that hands you a feed.
No. Spond doesn't publish a subscribable iCal or webcal address for a group, and it doesn't offer a public API for exporting events to outside sites. Its calendar feature syncs events into the calendar app already on your phone. To get a real feed, you let Spond fill a Google or iCloud calendar and take the link from there.
Because Apple's read-only permission would let Spond add events but never touch them again. Spond needs to edit times and delete entries when an event is cancelled, and full access is the only level that allows that.
It's free for teams, which is a big part of why grassroots clubs adopt it — no per-team fee, no paywalled scheduling. It grew up in Europe and spread with clubs and youth organizations from there, so American parents often meet it through a coach who used it somewhere else first.
Not inside Spond — it only shows the groups you belong to, and it can't take in a TeamSnap or GameChanger link. Schedule Caddie is built for exactly that: bring the bridged Spond calendar link plus your other kids' feeds, and everything lands on one color-coded calendar.
On Android, Spond does it natively: profile picture → Calendar settings → Provide access → Standard calendar, then pick the Google calendar you want events written into. On iPhone, Spond writes into your iCloud calendar instead, so you'd sync to Apple Calendar via profile picture → Calendar settings → Grant access here → full access.
Spond itself will notify you in the app — that part it does well. What breaks is everything downstream: once those events are sitting in Google or Apple Calendar, those apps refresh subscribed feeds only every 12 to 24 hours and never tell you what moved. Schedule Caddie checks the bridged feed every day and emails you exactly what changed, so a moved practice doesn't depend on you having app notifications switched on.
Every kid, every team, every app — merged, color-coded, and watched for changes.
