How to Get TeamSnap Schedules on a Skylight Calendar

Two quirks make this pairing confusing: TeamSnap hides its calendar link behind an export icon most parents have never tapped, and Skylight only displays calendars synced to it — you can't paste a team feed into the wall directly. Chain the hops in the right order and it's five minutes.

⏱ Takes about 7 minutes

The steps

  1. 1

In the TeamSnap iPhone app: Schedule → export icon → Subscribe. Tap Schedule at the bottom, then the export icon (top-left, next to the profile icon), then Subscribe on the "Sync to iOS Calendar" popup. iOS Calendar opens with the subscription URL pre-filled — press and hold the URL field, Select All, Copy. (On a computer or Android instead: sign in at teamsnap.com → your team → Schedule → Settings → Sync Calendar / Export, and copy the link there.)

  2. 2

Paste it into Schedule Caddie (free) and copy your one URL. Add Schedule → paste the link. Add the other kids' feeds and the school PDF while you're there — the point is one family calendar, not another silo. Then copy the merged All Events URL from Subscribe & Share: one URL for the wall, plus change-alert emails when a coach moves something.

  3. 3

Paste the URL into the Skylight app. Skylight subscribes to calendar feed URLs directly (per its support docs): in the Skylight app, My Skylight menu → Synced Calendars → Sync new calendar → Calendar URL → paste → Done. Prefer the feed mirrored in your phone calendar too? Subscribe Google (web: + next to "Other calendars" → From URL), Apple (Settings → Apps → Calendar → Add Subscribed Calendar), or Outlook (Add calendar → Subscribe from web) instead — the Skylight displays connected calendars as well.

  4. 4

Check the calendar is toggled on for the Skylight. In the Skylight app (or on the device), confirm the calendar you just added — URL-synced or account-synced — is enabled for display. From then on the pipeline maintains itself: TeamSnap → your calendar → the kitchen wall.

If something's not working

I can't find the calendar link in TeamSnap

On iPhone it's behind the export icon on the Schedule tab — not in settings. On the website: your team → Schedule → Settings → Sync Calendar / Export. Note that TeamSnap's newer ONE app is a different product with its own path; if your export screen looks nothing like this, you may be in ONE — its calendar-api link works here too.

A game moved but the Skylight still shows the old time

Subscribed feeds refresh on the display's own schedule — Skylight doesn't publish an interval for URL-synced calendars, and routing through Google/Apple adds a 12–24-hour hop of its own. It will catch up — but if you want to KNOW today, route the feed through Schedule Caddie first: free change-alert emails fire when the source changes, not when the wall repaints.

Events show up doubled on the display

The same team is probably feeding the wall twice — once as a direct subscription and once inside a merged feed. Pick one route per team.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need Skylight Plus for this?

No — calendar syncing is part of the base Skylight experience. Plus covers extras like Magic Import and chore rewards. Everything on this page works on the free tiers of both products.

Why route through Schedule Caddie instead of connecting the feed straight to Google?

Direct works — our TeamSnap → Google guide shows it. The merged route earns its keep with several kids on several apps (one feed instead of five), schedules that only exist as PDFs, and free emails naming exactly what changed — the wall itself updates silently.

Can I put the raw TeamSnap URL straight into the Skylight (or Google) and skip the merge?

You can — Skylight takes a feed URL directly, and it works for a single team. What you give up: the other kids' feeds and the school calendar merged alongside, dedupe, and the change-alert emails that tell you a game moved (displays absorb feed changes silently). The merge upstream is what makes the wall trustworthy.

Is Schedule Caddie affiliated with Skylight?

No — we're an independent, free family-schedule tool. Skylight makes a genuinely nice display; we keep the schedules feeding it accurate. The two work well together.
