Good news for iPhone families: Spond's direct-write model was practically designed for Apple Calendar. Grant access once, pick the calendar, and every session — including cancellations — maintains itself. Two details trip people up: the full-access requirement and choosing an iCloud calendar so events reach your other devices.
Know Spond's model — it writes INTO a calendar, no link to copy. Spond doesn't publish an iCal/webcal URL and has no export API. Instead, the app writes events directly into a calendar on your phone and keeps them updated (including removing cancelled sessions). So the job is choosing WHICH calendar it writes into.
Tap your profile picture → Calendar settings. Everything calendar-related lives under your own profile, not inside a group. From there, grant calendar access when prompted — Apple requires FULL access (not read-only) because Spond edits and removes entries when things change.
Grant FULL calendar access — Apple's requirement, not Spond's whim. Calendar settings → Grant access here → Calendars → Full Access. Read-only isn't offered because Spond needs to edit and remove entries when a session moves or cancels.
Choose an iCloud calendar as the target. Pick (or first create, in the Calendar app) an iCloud calendar — e.g. 'Spond' — rather than an 'On my iPhone' local calendar, so events appear on your iPad/Mac and can be shared with a partner via iCloud calendar sharing.
Spot-check the week. Open Apple Calendar and confirm the sessions are there in the right color. Cancelled sessions vanish on their own.
iOS didn't ask, or I tapped Don't Allow
iOS Settings → Apps (or Privacy & Security) → Calendars → Spond → Full Access. Then back into Spond's Calendar settings to pick the target.
Events only show on this iPhone, not my iPad or my partner's phone
Spond wrote to a local 'On my iPhone' calendar. Switch the target to an iCloud calendar; for a partner, share that iCloud calendar from the Calendar app.
Nothing tells me when a session changes
The calendar silently updates — Spond's own push notifications are its alert channel. For the family's OTHER feeds (the ones with URLs), Schedule Caddie's free change-alert emails name exactly what moved.
Not today — Spond documents the direct-write model only, with no public iCal feed. If that changes, tell us and we'll update every Spond page the same day.
That's where Schedule Caddie fits: paste every link-bearing feed (TeamSnap, GameChanger, the league site) and upload the school PDF into one free merged calendar with change-alert emails — then let Spond keep writing its events alongside. One system, every kid.
From Spond's documented calendar-sync flow as of September 2026, cross-checked against the in-app path. Apps move buttons — if yours looks different, tell us and we'll fix it.
Every kid, every schedule, every app — merged, color-coded, and watched for changes.
