Spond works differently from almost every other team app: there's no iCal URL. Instead the app writes events into a calendar on your phone — so getting Spond into Google Calendar means making a GOOGLE calendar the one it writes to. Android makes that natural; iPhone needs one extra setting.
Know Spond's model — it writes INTO a calendar, no link to copy. Spond doesn't publish an iCal/webcal URL and has no export API. Instead, the app writes events directly into a calendar on your phone and keeps them updated (including removing cancelled sessions). So the job is choosing WHICH calendar it writes into.
Tap your profile picture → Calendar settings. Everything calendar-related lives under your own profile, not inside a group. From there, grant calendar access when prompted — Apple requires FULL access (not read-only) because Spond edits and removes entries when things change.
Android: pick your Google calendar as the Standard calendar. In Spond's Calendar settings, tap Standard calendar and choose the Google account calendar you want (your main one, or a dedicated 'Sports' calendar you created in Google first). Spond's events now appear in Google Calendar on every device.
iPhone: make sure a Google calendar is available to iOS, then select it. iPhones only offer Spond the calendars iOS knows about. Add your Google account under iOS Settings → Apps → Calendar → Accounts (with Calendars toggled on), then in Spond's Calendar settings choose that Google calendar as the target. Events sync up to Google from there.
Give it a few minutes, then spot-check. Open calendar.google.com and confirm this week's sessions arrived. Cancelled events disappear on their own — that's Spond doing its job.
Spond events landed in the wrong calendar
The Standard/target calendar setting decides everything. Change it in Spond's Calendar settings — already-written events may stay in the old calendar, so delete those entries there once.
Sessions appear on my phone but not at calendar.google.com
Spond wrote into a LOCAL device calendar rather than the Google account's. Re-check the target calendar — it must be listed under your Google account, not 'On my iPhone/device'.
Nothing tells me when a session changes
Correct — the calendar just silently updates (Spond's own app notifications are the alert channel for Spond events). For the rest of the family's feeds — the ones with real URLs — Schedule Caddie's free change-alert emails name exactly what moved.
Not today — Spond documents the direct-write model only, with no public iCal feed. If that changes, tell us and we'll update every Spond page the same day.
That's where Schedule Caddie fits: paste every link-bearing feed (TeamSnap, GameChanger, the league site) and upload the school PDF into one free merged calendar with change-alert emails — then let Spond keep writing its events alongside. One system, every kid.
From Spond's documented calendar-sync flow as of September 2026, cross-checked against the in-app path. Apps move buttons — if yours looks different, tell us and we'll fix it.
Every kid, every schedule, every app — merged, color-coded, and watched for changes.
